Lacey Sends South Home Crying

The crowd went wild as the clock wound down to the final seconds and Lacey still had possession securing their 34-28 win over the Toms River South Indians.

Both teams looked solid as they took they took the field. Lacey won the coin toss and chose to start with the ball second half. Defense started off strong, Shutting down almost every attempt South had to move up field. South had to punt on 4th down of their first possession. The first offensive play by Lacey was awe inspiring. This lead to a Touchdown at 7:34 in the 1st. The score was 7-0. Sadly by 2:19 South’s offense slithered through Lacey’s rock solid defense to tie it up at the end of the 1st quarter. Coming into the second quarter South was looking sloppy, throwing incomplete pass after incomplete pass. Lacey took advantage of this and got their second touchdown of the game at 7:50 into the second. The score is now 14-7 Although South did manage to get a touchdown off a run at 5:56 but the kicker missed so Lacey still hold the lead. #1, Eric Green, made great tackles throughout this game keeping South’s offense from getting very far. They did slip through again with 27 seconds left in the half. By the end of the First Half the score was Lacey-14 South-20.

To kick off the second half, Lacey made great plays leading to a touchdown at 10:03 putting the Lions back on top with the score now being 21-20. The Indians were looking scared and nervous as their QB missed a snap causing a fumble. Lacey has the ball again and by 5:45 the score was 28-20. South made a 45 yd run but a flag went down on the play putting them at 1st and goal. Lacey defense was holding them back but South managed to break through the wall to tie it up and end the 3rd quarter with a score of 28-28. The Lions made a great run to start the 4th. Both teams were looking ready to snatch the win at any moment but Lacey came through with a touchdown at 10:2 by #19, Kevin Hayes. The Lions beat the Indians with a score of 34-28.
