The Girl’s Soccer team scored four goals in the second half to beat Barnegat 6-1 yesterday and continued with their strong season. Lacey outshot Barnegat 38-2 en route to their 10th win.
Kelly Weaver and Faith LaHaye scored two goals each to lead the lions. Stephanie Wollman and Cassidy Meyh each added one goal. Julianna Biele and Juliana Rettino each had two assists on the day, with Faith LaHaye adding the other assist.
In a big matchup last week against Manchester, Lacey won 2-0 and Tia Ramos made an incredible stop on a hard shot by A’Liyah Moore, a very talented and tough player from Manchester. Lacey had contained Moore most of the game but on this particular play, she got loose on the left side of the box and set up to drill a shot and Tia Ramos ran at her at full speed and blocked this shot with her legs, sending the carom almost out of bounds. The Lacey crowd was very loud on that one. According to Coach Jack Mahar, “Tia has been lights out on defense for us all year. She has shut down almost every scoring opportunity that our opponents have had.” In that same Manchester game, Dakota Fiedler and Julianna Biele controlled the middle of the field with some strong attacks on goal by Juliana Rettino, Faith Lahaye, and Stephanie Wollman.
Some of the leading contributors are Faith LaHaye with 13 goals, and Juliana Rettino with 11 goals. According to Mahar, Dakota Fiedler is 3rd on the team in scoring and has been controlling the midfield very well.
