The Roaring Lions

It was great seeing the tough Lacey kids wrestle in the spotlight at Atlantic City, great vibe and great matches.

Wrestling started at 2:30, Thursday, with Brady Carter the 9th seed squaring off against Josh Palmucci of Kingsway, the 24th seed. Brady Carter defeated him 11-3 in a commanding win sparking up the fire for Lacey.

Up next for the Lions was at the 132 weight class with Hunter Gutierrez. Hunter, seeded at 10th, came out firing against Sam LaCorte of Christian Brothers Academy, who was seeded 23rd, with a tough 10-0 win. The Lions were hot coming into the 220 weight class with Vinny Ceglie at the 19th seed, wrestling the 14th seed from Red Bank Catholic, Steven Cmielewski. Ceglie had it tough from the start and suffered a pin 28 seconds into the first period to a very tough opponent who pinned both his opponents Thursday night.

Up again was Brady Carter now wrestling Louis Gagliardo of Toms River North(8th seed), who was no stranger, they have squared off earlier this year. It was time for revenge for Brady who went into the 3rd period with a 3-2 edge over Gagliardo, who with just 4 seconds left got to brady’s back to seal the deal with just seconds, left winning 6-5. A great match for both 106 pounders, Brady’s future is very bright he is just a freshman and has much time in his high school career.

At the 132 pound weight class, Hunter Gutierrez’s second match of the night came against the 26th seed, Al De Santis, from Shore, where it was 0-0 all match and all it took was an escape from Hunter to gain the edge.
