Hey movie fans, it’s me Ryan. You know, even casual or the most avid of cinephiles have certainly been left with great movie memories this year.

Some may say the year 2016  had the best animated features, while others may have particularly enjoyed the various comic book movies that were produced. Hopefully fans of all genres got great things to see in theatres in 2016.

Reaching out to my peers, I have found out what many students’ favorite films of 2016 were and why. I interviewed 12 peers and saw a few common results. Suicide Squad got one, as did sausage Party. There were two people who chose Lights Out and two for Finding Dory. Three peers liked Deadpool the most. Amber Manoski (‘18) liked Finding Dory because of how nice it was seeing something from her childhood recreated. Mr. D’Arcangelo says, “Pixar did incredible with technology and graphics [in Finding Dory]. It came along way from movies like Toy Story. My kids enjoyed it, so I did.” Adrian Martinez (‘19), Kyle Decker (‘19) and Colin Dorsey (‘19) picked The Conjuring 2 as their favorite 2016 films. Martinez says, “You wouldn’t know what’s next unlike most movies. There were plot twists. The ending was really good. You really did not know what was going to happen until last second.” Michael Corino (‘20) liked Suicide Squad because of one particular character. Corino said, “Deadshot is literally amazing. Will Smith, portraying him, is one of the best actors of all time.”
